Walmart “Rideable” Gravel Bike for $288 or S Works dream for $11,999

Heard a cycling podcast (CADE Media) review this. TRP electronic shifting, 2x7 shifting, mechanical disk brakes, 700x40 tires, … by report an actually rideable gravel bike for $288.  Great for traveling … just buy a bike at a Walmart, do your rides, and gift it to someone who needs it at the end of your trip. Need to check inventory (currently in stock in Mountain View … but many stores seem out of stock). But probably easier to find than a decent rental, and less expensive for a longer trip! Do they have it in an XL size? You might want to pay for a tune-up at a real bike shop before using on a long trip, and you won’t win Unbound on it … but a nice price. Affordability! Any guess where this is manufactured? Or what would happen to the price if the U.S.-China truce on tariffs were to expire?

Current website link (will eventually die) is here. Short on details.

Or you can get a Specialized S Works Crux gravel bike with SRAM AXS Explorer electronic shifting 13x1 shifting, hydraulic disk brakes, 700x40 tires, for $11,999. I am pretty sure the S Works is significantly lighter, smoother, more durable, a joy to ride, and will be set up professionally by an authorized dealer. Designed in the USA but the frame is manufactured in Taiwan (or mainland PRC). Groupset likewise (except some bits from Portugal). You may even get some espresso or latte while you wait, but sadly, you still won’t win Unbound on it!
