I would like to make a longer tour through the Western mountains on Saturday, is anybody interested to join? I desperately need some hillclimb training to survive Nariki, Shuzenji, Shiobara and Gunma races in the month to come. So I was first thinking about a Honjuku- Tomin approach, down to Okutama, then cross over to Chichibu and try the track for the Tokyo Hill Climb race on August 17th. It might also be possible to visit the new house from Ryoko and Stephen close by on this tour.
But then yesterday by chance I found this secret bicycle route map of Japan with new great routes. I suggest we start at the tower protecting the bay and proceed to the East over the three hill of Japan until we reach the edge. Careful, you might be shot at from the castle in the mountains so bring some armor.
Any other suggestion is also welcome.
Here's what I have in mind for this Saturday...a fairly long tour indeed:
ReplyDeleteOtarumi -> Akiyama-mura -> Hinazuru-toge -> Suzugane-toge -> Matsuhime-toge -> Okutama-ko -> Stephen & Ryoko's place -> Ome (hop the train) -> Tamagawa CR
Ah, another attempt on my feeble live since I have survived the tour with you 2 weeks ago. Why don't we meet in the afternoon at Ryoko & Stephens place or Ome station and head for Nariki Tokyo HC instead? Then I have time in the morning to leisurely conquer Kazahari.
ReplyDeleteOK...I go with you Michael and re-schedule the longer tour on Sunday instead.
ReplyDeleteI could join you in the morning too of course...we meet as usual at Sekidobashi and then we do the URA-KAZAHARI (Kazahari-rindo) together...how about that? After we conquer this one we go down and circle around Okutamako to Ryoko & Stephen's place and explore the Nariki Tokyo Hillclimb parcourse.
Hm. That is definitely shorter, but even more vertical. From what I hear from you and the TCC blog, this seems to be more than 10% average slope.
ReplyDeleteI would like to do something that brings me into shape for Shuzenji; so rather long but not as brutally step. Also considering the heat.
Sorry that I am such a picky sissy but let's just meet at Stephens house. He wrote me that he will be there on Saturday.
No prob mob. What arrival time at Stephen's place should I try to aim for?
