Anyone cycling on the Emperor's Birthday?

Gone will be the balmy, unseasonable temperatures of late but still tomorrow should be fine cycling weather! Anyone care for a little half-day ride? How about a visit to Aurore, Ome and further up to Yamabushi-toge and beyond?Hope the fresh bakery bait posted above is attractive enough to lure at least a few PE riders...already got Froggy I think...Nishibe-san looks like joining as well...

I was thinking of a get-together at Sekidobashi @ 8:00 and go as far as the top of Yamabushi-toge and then double back. This would make for a short half-day ride with plenty of time left to date the wife and/or do other little family service things.

UPDATE: TOMORROW'S BIRTHDAY RIDE CANCELLED DUE TO...very slippery road conditions...this is what weathernews has for tomorrow in the Okutama area..

霜や氷はもちろん、路面凍結によるスリップにも注意が必要です。そして火曜日は冷た〜い冬晴れの一日に。

  1. Would love to ride with you but my schedule tomorrow does not allow it. I am hoping to ride next on Sun28th.

  2. Tom,

I am glad I did not check Positivo espresso blog... I left home at 7h00 to meet you at Sekido bashi and was on time (7h55...) I rode towards Ome but decided to climb to Okutama ko & headed towards Enzan but turned right to go to Kosugi (very steep climb at the beginning perfect to warm up the diesel & gentle climb 5kms to the top. I rode back towards Okutamako & climb my favorite (Kazahari togei). both mountains were covered by snow (not the road) but no ice on the road.

210 km / 2500 meters climb at an average of 26,5 km per hour. I already feel ready for Transalp...

  3. My apologies again Froggy! Have been chicken-hearted lately after I ran into slippery conditions on the Wada. Glad you went ahead anyways and were able to enjoy such a powerful ride averaging 26.5km/h...

Let's all try to get some decent ride organized for this weekend!
