Of course ... in the end, he did not retire. He crashed out and did not get a chance to win sprints at the Tour and beat Eddy Merckx alltime record ... so Astana is bringing him back next year for another try. It seems their entire Tour de France team, such as it is, will be designed around getting him a sprint victory.
