Spiegel-Online published an article [in German only] today about bicycle designs that were awarded prizes at the Taipeh Cycle Show.This is only about design,basically done on CAD basis with additional rendering, none of these bikes exist. Having experienced a lot of flat tires again recently, I like the design of the bike with a continuous rubber belt along the rear and front wheel position.
As a very simple idea, I also like the bike with the huge shopping net in the front, this could be a nice diversification of mama-charis in Japan.Otherwise: Not too innovative, rather done by professional designers than people from the bike industry, as there is too much emphasis on appearance and less on function. Designers try to make things out of bikes that they aren't. Like toasters with USB ports. Added functionality is not always a plus, in case of bicycles it makes them heavy and, ultimately, useless.
